Companies have either a ‘razorblade’ or a ‘bulldozer’ strategy. Undoubtedly, Microsoft stands for the latter. The pace at which they are announcing new versions of their ERP-solutions, is impressive, and nobody can ignore it.
Shortly after Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016, Microsoft announces the new version of Dynamics AX. It shares new features similar to NAV, including further Office 365 and Azure integration.
‘Cloud first’ may still be the key message here, but even more important in my opinion is that customers will have the option of hybrid deployments with Dynamics AX.
Chris Kanaracus, managing editor and principal analyst with Constellation Research: “you can imagine some Dynamics customers continuing to run their core financials on-premises while choosing the new cloud version of AX for areas such as HCM.”
I think hybrid deployments are the future of ERP. Microsoft is on the right track.
